The story of Maxim
July 2019
“One of the most enjoyable aspects of parenthood is to see your kids growing up. You realize that you started out as a kid too. Also, no day is the same with them. There are some challenges, too, both physical and psychological. With my small kids, it’s about overcoming myself every day. It’s an everyday struggle between getting out of bed in the morning to prepare breakfast for them and having just 10 more minutes of sleep. However, for me, the most valuable thing is that kids love their parents even if parents sometimes don’t deserve their love. They accept us the way we are. I am not saying I am a bad parent but kids can easily tolerate our mistakes. We can also teach them to tread on the path of forgiveness and unconditional acceptance of others. They have it in them and we only need to encourage it. I want them to stay independent when they grow up. I also want them to be assertive, so they know when to say “no“ to people. For example, I have problems to do that sometimes, which makes me easily exploitable in those cases. I don’t want that for them. I want them to be aware of their own value and to have some inner moral compass, so they know what’s right and what’s wrong, and which direction to take in the future.”
