Poem: In Motion
Nathaniel Gonzales / March 12, 2020
( 1 min read )
In the days of the bitter cold
Where there is no warmth to be found
Where all the remains are the feeble embers of hope
And no one left to strike a match and reignite our spirits
But maybe it’s for the better that no one does
By my reckoning, hope is what has gotten us here
A belief in the future
Misguided
We can put our foot down and assert
But what will be simply will be
Stacking up pillows on the track of a speeding train
Will not stop that which has already been set in motion
The train will force its way through the barricade
As if it had never been there
We cannot hope to stop it
Great as humanity may be, we are not that great
The train will force its way through the barricade
As if it had never been there
We cannot hope to stop it
Great as humanity may be, we are not that great
And watch as it ever so slowly fades over the horizon
And leave it up to imagination
At least then we won’t have to face what’s on the other side
Or we can jump on along for the ride
And gaze out of the window
At the sights that slowly pass us by
At least then we won’t have to face what’s on the other side
